@hpn Agree with everything you said... I got the same feeling about the 'disappearance act' too.

@Manoj Yes!

@KKM I am glad to hear that your reasoning on why you are not choosing a candidate. We have to vote for whom we think is the best candidate.

@Ajay I'm far more comfortable with a hung parliament full of good people rather than the other way around. Think about it - if we have sincere folks there, why would the parliament remain hung - good people would make a coalition and things would move on.

I agree that great entrepreneurs won't make great politicians, but they will make great leaders because they already are! Think about it - if they had the capacity to have visions, put their money, soul and heart into it, and they have made it happen, why can't they achieve the same for the society?

Of course, the same doesn't apply for "personalities", but I am of the opinion that if they are achievers and have good common sense, that is enough for them to do good.

@Umang I think debates are happening since this year.

@Bharat Awesome!

@Radha Heh :)

I can imagine what you mean when you say Prof Radhakrishna was just rambling. He was the principal when I was studying for my degree and I haven't seen a single instance when he managed to capture the attention of all students in the hall.
I agree with you when you say we need to vote for the candidate and not the party. I am more inclined towards voting for Capt. Gopinath now..

There has been an increase of number of highly educated and good
candidates from southern part of India.

Some more people to notice are:

Janardhana Swamy - Years of experience
in Sun Microsystems, USA and Alumnus of Indian Institute of Science,
Bangalore - BJP candidate from Chitradurga.

Sarath Babu - IIM A, BITS
Pilani alumnus and inspirational founder of Foodking in Chennai.

There could be more we don’t know of! Interesting times ahead.

Interesting. Did they always have candidate debates, or are they just copying the American style this year?

And I very much agree with the policy of voting for the candidate - makes sure that the fundamentals are right.

I believe you should vote for good individuals, but that only creates hung parliament and we as democratic country how long allow this politicians waste money on elections. I believe vote for party that has more politicians who work for country. Let them make money but also do give it back a at least some thing to citizens for electing them.

I don't believe highly educated personalities or great entrepreneurs could become great politicians or great leaders. Think about it, it takes lot more than that. Its about mentality they possess not degree or a company.

As someone who supported ananth kumar the last time , Here is my opinion.
- Even though he was the civil aviation minister he did not do much for BIAL .
- BJP having gained power in karnataka has been pretty bad (moral policing, baiting the opposition mla's et al).
- He was given enough chances and has not proved himself .
Also bjp at the center do not have good leaders (this was not the case last time when they were in power)

I would definitely choose between Gopinath and krishna byre gowda

You're right when you say its the individual whom you should vote for, not the party. When parties realize that only good individuals can win them seats, they'll start fielding good people. That's the only way this whole political mess can be cleaned up.

Plus points for Ananth Kumar include that he has been an MP four times, been the Civil Aviation Minister, etc.

Yeah, Ananthkumar could be extremely useful to the city if the opposition comes to power. He's easily someone who would get included in the cabinet and stuff. He does sound sensible, although you won't see much of him after the elections are over!
