Open source coming of age
Newsforge has a new article on ‘Open source cracks publishing wide open’ – It is an interesting article to which I can directly relate to. Yes, I am referring to my book. It is heartening to note that open source tools are coming of age and are being used in a professional publishing environment.
On a different note, I keep noting that open source tools are maturing and are ready for the corporate and work environments, but are yet to conquer the desktop. There are so many situations where there is room for improvement. The No.1 problem in my opinion is adding and removing any software, not just the ones on the CDs…I’m hoping Autopackage comes of age as well and solve this problem.
