I had used a mac for some time (thankfully :-) ). It tries to be VERY user friendly. Luckily, you can compile most of gnuutils stuff on it. I would suggest you get yourself bash first, the default shell supplied with mac (tsh, i think) is very irritating.

Oh, btw, enjoy the embrace of Steve Job :-)
