More Mono Talk

Saturday, March 13th, 2004

Edd Dumbill (of XML.com fame) asks the question Will Mono Become the Preferred Platform for Linux Development?. He goes on to talk about the state of Mono, about MonoDevelop along with some cool screenshots, as well as what’s in store for the future.

Java Generics

Friday, March 12th, 2004

Bruce Eckel has written a very insightful entry in his blog on Java Generics. It is interesting to note that Java Generics (as proposed) doesn’t significantly add anything that an interface would achieve.

I also agree with the part that "it seemed to take C# rather that the loyal Java users to stimulate the Sun Java group to add ease of programming features". Sad, but true.

Global Village

Tuesday, March 9th, 2004

My book has been receiving tremendous response. It’s amazing! I have been getting "well done" messages combined with suggestions and corrections from so many people. These helpful readers are from UK, USA, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Sweden, ….! It’s a truly global village out there.

The downside was that my website was down yesterday, but my website did get more than 751 visitors! There has been 645 downloads of my book in the last 4 days alone!

Thanks for coming!

Language Interoperability Problems!

Sunday, March 7th, 2004

My article on Mono is being discussed at a Slashdot-like site called gildot.org and they are all talking in Spanish! Atleast, I think it is Spanish – I am not sure. If you can understand what they are talking, please tell me what’s going on !

Update : Well, it turns out that it’s actually a Portuguese forum. Thanks to Rui Machado for pointing this out.

Halloween X

Friday, March 5th, 2004

The Halloween 10 document is pretty scary. It’s amazing that Microsoft could stoop to such levels to destroy it’s competition. We all know that this attempt is pretty futile and SCO will get laughed out of court, but this is just so appalling.

Mono talk

Friday, March 5th, 2004

I just wrote down a few of my thoughts in an article titled “Why Mono ?”. It’s about why I think Mono is great and how it makes sense for the next generation of softwares that are going to be written. Mono has the potential to enable much better softwares than was ever possible before. So, read on !

Bourne Again

Thursday, March 4th, 2004

I finished reading The Bourne Supremacy. Such an incredibly complex character – this Jason Bourne! There are two parts to this man – the past called Jason Bourne – the vicious assassin and the other, a scholar called David Webbs. This book is all about how he is recruited by the ruthless government officers to take out a dangerous rogue who has become the most powerful man in China!

This book kept me on the edge of my seats. I’d highly recommend it. One warning – read it only if you don’t have to go to work the next day because you won’t be able to put down the book to sleep at night!!
